Jackson County Health Department
LOCATION: Lee's Summit, Missouri
DESCRIPTION: The entire facility was gutted and remodeled. The 2-story building includes demolition and building in new walls, hollow metal frames, acoustical ceiling, and light fixtures. All new flooring, wall paint, furniture, laboratory, operable wall partitions, and break room appliances.

CHILDREN'S MERCY HOSPITAL
LOCATION: Kansas City, Missouri + Overland Park, Kansas
DESCRIPTION: Universal Construction has completed over 20 projects for Children’s Mercy Hospital, consisting of major additions, renovations, and new construction across multiple campus locations. These projects have supported the hospital’s continued growth while maintaining operations within highly sensitive and occupied healthcare environments. Recent work includes the 4th Floor Clinics project at the Overland Park campus, which involved build-out of shell space within an occupied patient tower to create new clinic and treatment areas. Additional projects include construction of a five-story annex building connected to the radiology department, along with various upgrades and improvements throughout the campus.
These projects reflect a long-term partnership focused on delivering high-quality healthcare environments while coordinating complex construction within active medical facilities.

North Kansas City Hospital
LOCATION: North Kansas City, Missouri
DESCRIPTION: Universal Construction has completed multiple projects for North Kansas City Hospital over several years, consisting of major additions, renovations, and new construction to support the hospital’s continued growth and evolving healthcare needs. Recent work included a 30,110 SF emergency room addition and renovation of approximately 4,100 SF of the existing ER. The expanded facility includes 25 ER beds, triage rooms, procedure rooms, nurse stations, a new exterior canopy, and a roof-mounted heliport. Additional site improvements included construction of an 850-space south parking garage and a 420-space east parking garage. Other projects across the campus included parking garage construction, radiation simulator room renovations, multi-year full building renovations, and construction of a new six-story medical office building connected to the hospital via a skybridge. These improvements provide a more efficient, modern, and patient-focused healthcare environment.

University of Kansas Hospital - Orthopedic Clinic
LOCATION: Lawrence, Kansas
DESCRIPTION: The University of Kansas Hospital Orthopedic Clinic project consisted of a three-phase renovation of an existing medical facility to create a new 3,592 SF orthopedic clinic and a 2,255 SF rehabilitation facility. The project included renovation of existing spaces to support modern healthcare delivery, improving both functionality and patient experience. The orthopedic clinic includes six exam rooms, imaging and diagnostic procedure rooms, administrative offices, and support spaces. The rehabilitation facility features a new rehab gym, exam rooms, a nutrition area, waiting areas, and office spaces. Additional improvements included ADA upgrades throughout the facility to enhance accessibility and provide improved access to the new clinic spaces.

Menorah Medical Center – Additions, Renovations, and New Construction
LOCATION: Leawood, Kansas
DESCRIPTION: The Menorah Medical Center project consisted of the construction of a new 142-bed hospital, expansion of the existing medical office building (MOB), and numerous renovation projects completed over more than 20 years. Work included major additions, interior and exterior renovations, and new construction to support the hospital’s growth and evolving healthcare needs. Projects included expansion programs such as the Re-dedication to Excellence Building, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Labor/Delivery/Recovery areas, along with renovations to the Emergency Department, outpatient and emergency waiting areas, cafeteria, postpartum and nursery spaces, and skilled nursing units. Additional improvements included demolition and renovation of upper floors, fire protection upgrades for generators, parking lot and structural repairs, asphalt and landscaping improvements, and various infrastructure and facility upgrades throughout the campus. These ongoing improvements created a more modern, efficient, and patient-focused healthcare environment while supporting long-term operational needs.

Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital – Addition and Renovations
LOCATION: Ulysses, Kansas
DESCRIPTION:The Bob Wilson Memorial Grant County Hospital project consisted of a three-story, 58,000 SF addition and major renovations to existing facilities to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. The new addition included 26 patient rooms, expanding the hospital’s capacity and supporting growing community needs.In addition to the new construction, the project included renovation of approximately 24,000 SF of existing support space to integrate with and support the expanded facility. These improvements created a more modern, efficient, and functional healthcare environment for patients and staff.
